This seminar is intended to help photographers
make their vision a reality, through learning
an efficient process for creative control
in capture, editing, and printing their images.
Seminar attendees will also view a number
of print samples created using the new HP
Designjet Z3100 wide-format printer, printed
on fine art and photographic media.
There have been significant
improvements in digital photography in
the past year – these
include improved cameras, computers, displays,
software, and printers. Our goal is to help
you get the most out of your investment in
these tools, and help you achieve your vision
in your photography.
Here are some examples of what you
will learn in the seminar:
- How your new
camera usually comes out of the box set
up for snapshots, not serious photography – and
how to dial it in to fit your work.
- How changing the settings on your camera
sets the foundation for better prints down
the road.
- Evaluating your
exposure in camera and adjusting it to
produce the best image possible – in
only a few seconds.
- Why Photoshop
comes out of the box with default settings
that are not suited for photography – and
how to correct it.
- Pre-sets for Photoshop and Adobe Camera
RAW that will speed up software processing
and improve the quality of your images.
- Methods to batch
process image files quickly and easily – using
multiple adjustments in one processing
step.
- How to “lock down your color”,
keeping it accurate and consistent from
capture to print – month after month.
- Color correction techniques for your
images that are fast, and extremely accurate.
- Why you should
edit your images in Photoshop in “preview” or “soft
proofing” mode – and how to
create color-accurate previews that can
help you pick the best paper for your image.
- How to handle
color-to-Black & White
conversions during image editing, and how
to produce Black and White inkjet prints
that can equal or exceed the quality of
darkroom prints.
- Judging image
quality of proof prints and final prints– plus
methods for preventing defects, and techniques
for quality corrections and adjustments.
- How to ensure
that you get a good screen-to-print match,
and how to keep you’re the
screen and printer on track for consistent
color month after month, year after year.
- Use of the HP
Designjet Z3100 wide format printer – setup,
color controls, media selection, and
more.
- Fundamentals of maximizing print quality
through software settings and adjustments.
This includes but is not limited to proper
use of ICC profiles.
- How to choose a pro-level inkjet printer,
based on 10 important criteria.
- Fine art print
making – materials,
methods, managing editions, and more.
This seminar is conducted by David Saffir,
an internationally-recognized photographer,
print maker, and author. He is the author
of Mastering Digital Color, A Photographers
Guide to Color Techniques, and has taught
